Houseplant Resource Center is an educational destination dedicated to helping people successfully care for their plants, with a special expertise in fiddle leaf fig care and a mission to make houseplant care simpler, more approachable, and more successful for everyone.
What began in 2017 as one of the internet's first dedicated fiddle leaf fig resources has grown into a trusted source of plant care resources, practical solutions, and thoughtfully designed products for plant lovers around the world.
Our Story
Our story began with Claire Akin, a lifelong plant lover who grew up surrounded by generations of gardeners. Inspired by her grandmother's 70+ year-old houseplants and her mother's beautiful rose gardens, Claire created a place where people could find clear, practical answers without feeling overwhelmed.
At the time, fiddle leaf figs were exploding in popularity, but reliable information was difficult to find. Many plant owners struggled with common challenges like leaf drop, brown spots, overwatering, and slow growth.
We set out to change that.
Over the years, we've built one of the longest-running dedicated fiddle leaf fig education platforms, publishing in-depth care guides, plant troubleshooting articles, and practical advice designed to help plant owners build confidence and keep their plants thriving.
Our educational resources expanded beyond the website to include one of the first fiddle leaf fig-focused YouTube channels and active Facebook communities where hundreds of thousands of plant parents could learn, ask questions, and celebrate their progress together.
That hands-on experience also led to the development of our original Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant Food, one of the first fertilizers created specifically for fiddle leaf fig trees, followed by our Fiddle Leaf Fig Potting Soil, Fiddle Leaf Fig Rescue Drops, Propagation Promoter and 20+ other products designed to support healthy roots, strong growth, and long-term success.
Today, Houseplant Resource Center has grown beyond fiddle leaf figs to serve a wider audience of houseplant lovers. We create trusted houseplant education and product solutions for monsteras, pothos, philodendrons, orchids, African violets, bonsai, and many other popular plants, helping people feel more confident with every stage of indoor plant care.
In 2024, Claire passed the torch to Molly. We are honored to continue building upon the strong foundation Claire created while expanding Houseplant Resource Center into a broader destination for plant knowledge and support.
